This release of Map Viewer includes a redesigned road types viewer with some editing capabilities.

Changes in 0.4:

The road type viewer has been redesigned and has basic editing capabilities. Instead of showing the start and end profiles of the road type, a single profile is shown at a selectable offset. End points can be dragged around.

Appearance has been modified to work better with Mac OS X 10.5.

If an error occurs on loading a map from a plug-in, an error message is now shown, instead of a broken window.

Fixed a crashing bug when closing documents.

Version 0.3.4 (702-1)

This release of Map Viewer adds the ability to display an underlay (a reference image to help compare a track to a map, photograph or sketch). It also implements the ability to save map documents, as a step towards editing support. It is requested that all users apply this update and test the saving functionality.

Changes in 0.3.4:

Underlays are now supported. An underlay is an image which is shown underneath a track, allowing you to compare the track to a real map, satellite photo or sketch. To select an underlay, use the Set Underlay command in the File menu.

It is now possible to save maps. Maps will be saved as three files – mapinfo, roadtypes, and road. Warning: saving has not been tested exhaustively. Always ensure you have a backup of tracks you save from Map Viewer.

This release of Map Viewer improves handling of corrupt Redline plug-in files, including a potential (but unlikely) code insertion vulnerability. This update is reccomended for all users.

Changes in 0.3.3:

Corrected handling of several types of corruption in plug-in files.

Version 0.3.2 (701-1)

This update provides several user interface enhancements originally scheduled for version 0.3.1.

Changes in 0.3.2:

Switching from 3D Camera view to any other view with the Orbit Camera (eye) tool selected, then switching back to 3D Camera view, will now result in the Orbit Camera tool being reselected.

Some keyboard shortcuts have changed. In particular, holding down the Space bar (rather than the Command key) while dragging pans the view, as though the Pan Camera (hand) tool was selected. Holding the Command key (⌘) while dragging (rather than the Command and Shift keys) moves the camera in and out. As before, holding down the Option key (⌥) and dragging rotates the camera, as though the Orbit Camera (eye) tool was selected.

It is no longer possible to open multiple document windows for the same map. (This was previously possible only in the case of a plug-in containing a single map.)

Changed Respawn Location icon to conform with the First Geneva Convention.

This update addresses several rendering problems in version 0.3. It is reccomended for all users.

Changes since 0.3:

Fixed bug that caused hilly sections of road to appear twisted.

Fixed off-by-one error with display of interpolated segments. (Thanks to Giles Williams.)

AI track boundaries are once again displayed, along with control points for the AI racing line.

Version 0.3 (612-1)

This is a relatively major release. The main features are more accurate track display, and the new Road Type Inspector.

Changes since 0.2.4:

Proper (mostly) display of interpolated track sections, as used most prominently in the built-in Canyon Race Track.

Proper display when abutting track segments don’t line up properly.

New Pan Camera (hand) tool.

Implemented Road Type List and Road Type Inspector.

Track segments of zero length are now marked with a red dot (if the Control Line is visible).

Menus cleaned up: certain unimplemented commands removed, others renamed and merged.

The grid now displays properly in South and East views.

A bug was fixed which caused memory used by a document not to be recovered when the document was closed.

Modifier keys used to control the camera have been altered.

Known problems:

Switching from 3D Camera view to any other view with the Orbit Camera (eye) tool selected will switch to the Pan Camera tool, as the Orbit Camera tool is only relevant in 3D Camera view. Switching back to 3D view should restore the original tool selection, but currently does not.

Camera control isn’t very good.

The Respawn Location check box in the Road Type Inspector should be disabled, but isn’t.

Drivable track boundaries are displayed incorrectly in some instances.

AI track boundaries are not displayed at all.

It is possible to have two separate windows open for the same track, if (and only if) that track is the only track in a given plug-in.

The user interface has become quite messy in parts.

This release adds several display enhancements.

Changes since 0.2.3:

More accurate display of road profiles.

The “minTrack” and “maxTrack” lines are shown. These define the area that the AI considers to be drivable road.

Control points for the AI racing line are now shown as yellow dots.

Adjusted display colours.

This is a bug-fix release which makes Map Viewer work on Intel Macs. If you can open maps in Map Viewer, and have version 0.2, there is no need to install this update.

Changes since 0.2:

Now works on Intel Macs.

Changes since 0.1:

The width and profile of the road is now shown.

The grid can be shown in miles and kilometres. By default, the setting is based on Redline’s preferences.

Added “Open Built-in Maps” menu item.

Numerous internal changes.

Several small user interface tweaks.
